VAUGHAN PSYCHOLOGIST

I guess you landed on this page because you were looking for an experienced psychologist—and you’re in the right place. Indeed, I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to support individuals through life’s challenges. With years of clinical expertise across a range of mental health concerns, I currently offer therapy exclusively through secure video sessions, making treatment accessible, flexible, and effective from the comfort of your own space anywhere in Ontario. Online video therapy services are also available for clients located in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Change is one of the most difficult things in our life. At the same time, change is what we need when we are stuck in the loop of self-defeating patterns, feel hopeless, isolated and resentful.  As a psychologist, my role is to help you to initiate change and, thus, to help you to find freedom and meaning in your life.

As for the formal introduction:

I have completed a Psychology Degree at the Yaroslavl State University in Russia in 1991, followed by Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree (specialization in Organizational Behaviour) at Tel-Aviv University in Israel in 2000, and an additional Master’s degree (MA) in Clinical Psychology at York University in Toronto in 2008.

My professional experience includes work at the Centre of Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, including 6 years at the Anxiety Disorders Clinic. For the past 10 years I have been dividing my work between private practice and working at the WSIB Neurology Specialty Clinic at Altum Health, Toronto Western Hospital, at the Transitional Pain Service, Anesthesia and Pain Management Department, at Toronto General Hospital, and more recently at the Comprehensive Integrated Pain Program – Rehabilitation Pain Service at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute (TRI).

I have extensive training and experience in cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT),  cognitive-processing therapy (CPT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). For the past 5 years I have been training and practicing  Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). I also have training and practice Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT). In addition, I have been practicing clinical hypnosis.

I am a certified member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario with practice in clinical, rehabilitation, and counselling psychology. I am also a member of Ontario Psychological Association.

Research Experience

In addition to extensive clinical practice I have been involved in research in the areas of chronic pain and anxiety. More specifically, I have been interested in the effect of psychologically traumatizing aspects of living and experiencing pain on maintaining and exacerbation of pain. This work resulted in a published manuscript exploring the theoretical rationale and empirical evidence linking pain and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Another area of my research interests includes investigation of psychological factors in transition between acute post-surgical pain to chronic pain.
